Cheesy? Try again!

JCL's Choice: Cheesecake selections

This is a very interesting place. The ambience is very mellow and laid-back. There is actually a line to be seated in a rainy day at 11 at night. It must be good. As we were seated by the hostess, I noticed the walls across had quotes framed up and posted.

"Stressed spelled backwards is desserts" and "Forget love, I'd rather fall in chocolate!"

Their menu included a variation of cakes, cookies, pies, and cold and hot beverages. You may purchase full body cakes or in slices. Note that the prices are slightly higher if you choose to dine in (we could have gotten 3 extra slices for the price of dining, in including tax and tips, if we did take out). But that was worth it. The dining experience was just great. Here is why.

The waitress was extremely friendly and professional. The moment that we were seated, water and menu was brought over. When we were ready, a short moment after she took our orders, our desserts arrived. Extremely good hospitality here. When she was around our table serving other guests, she would ask us how are our desserts, etc...

So there were four of us, and each of us ordered a variation of cheesecake. I had the red velvet cheesecake, while Rooster had the strawberry cheesecake, Tissues had the marble cheesecake, and Scribbles had the German chocolate cheesecake. The red velvet cheesecake was really good. 2/3rd of the cake was cheesecake and the rest of the bottom layer was a sponge foam cake. The side was dusted in red food coloring. A bite of the sponge foam cake and cheesecake were perfect, the sponge balances out the overwhelming creaming taste.

The strawberry cheesecake was just an original flavor cheesecake topped with strawberry and maybe a strawberry coulis. If you want the original flavor, might as well pick this one since they both are same price and you get extra fruit. As for the marble cheesecake, it seem like Tissues got sick of it half way. It is half chocolate and half vanilla topped with a chocolate rosette. Red velvet would have been a much better choice for him. And last but not least, the German chocolate cheesecake was half chocolate foam cake and half cheesecake. Topped with pecans. This tasted like a regular chocolate cake, but nonetheless a great selection. The pecans gave it a great texture. Scribbles thought this was okay.

Overall, this was a great experience! I love the atmosphere. I love the food. I love the service. I would definitely recommend this place to couples. A very nice place to just talk and chill as well. If you ever have a chance to, stop by. You won't regret coming here!
